While no plant is 100% foolproof, the following list of varieties that we grow are typically unpalatable to deer and rabbit  due to either their strong fragrance or foliage that is  bitter, leathery, hairy, prickly or even a bit sappy.  Squirrels are more likely to  dig in the garden to go after freshly planted bulbs but they too have been known to snack on foliage on occasion. Planting squirrel resistant plants near your bulbs may help repel them.
